The Quirky and the Charming Chinese Drama Recap And Review

The Quirky and the Charming Full Drama explained

The Struggles of He Ran

The story introduces us to our female lead, He Ran, an energetic and hardworking young woman who is currently juggling multiple part-time jobs to make ends meet. We first see her outside a bakery on Valentine’s Day, selling chocolates with a promotional offer of complimentary balloons. Despite the festive atmosphere, He Ran is exhausted and feeling the weight of her "overtime" lifestyle.

Her integrity is put to the test when she discovers her greedy boss is tampering with expiration dates on the bakery products. Horrified that he is willing to risk customers' health for profit, He Ran intervenes. When a young boy tries to buy bread, she warns him and his mother that the food is expired. This leads to a confrontation where the mother slaps the owner, and He Ran is promptly fired.

He Ran doesn't go down without a fight. When the boss refuses to pay her salary, claiming they have no formal contract, she bluffs him by showing a "lab report" (which is actually just a random piece of paper) claiming the bread had dangerous bacterial levels. Fearing a government fine, the boss pays her 3,000 Yuan—though he sneakily deducts money for the "expired items" she consumed. He Ran leaves with her head high, determined to stay strong despite her setbacks.

The Perfectionist CEO: Xiao Yuebai

In contrast to He Ran’s chaotic life, we meet Xiao Yuebai, the meticulous and cold CEO of a luxury resort hotel. Yuebai is obsessed with maintaining his hotel’s perfect five-star rating and "zero negative review" record.

We see his perfectionism in action when a VIP guest, Ms. Liu, complains about a "stain" on the showerhead. To prove the hotel’s water quality is impeccable, Yuebai performs a dramatic gesture: he drinks the water directly from the showerhead to satisfy the guest. While he maintains a stoic exterior, he privately regrets this later as it makes him feel ill.

Yuebai’s current stressor is a missing designer button from a guest's expensive suit. His manager is exhausted, so Yuebai decides to handle the errand himself, leading him to a small shop owned by He Ran’s friend, Shan.

The Fateful Encounter

He Ran, still reeling from being fired, finds out her boyfriend, Zhu, is cheating on her. After a public confrontation where she dumps water on his head and blocks him, she meets Shan. Shan offers He Ran a chance to relax by giving her a voucher for a night at Yuebai’s luxury hotel in exchange for delivering the designer button.

Yuebai arrives at the shop to pick up the button. Due to a series of mishaps involving a public restroom and He Ran’s impatience with his "high-maintenance" attitude, they have a rocky first meeting. Eventually, He Ran makes it to the hotel, unaware that Yuebai is the owner.

The Night of Chaos

At the hotel, He Ran decides to make the most of her luxury stay. She drinks heavily from the mini-bar to drown her sorrows over her breakup and job loss. Her loud singing and crying prompt noise complaints. Yuebai, who is working late, goes to investigate personally.

A drunken He Ran mistakes Yuebai for her cheating ex-boyfriend, Zhu. In her intoxicated state, she clings to him, accidentally ruins his expensive coat, and eventually knocks him unconscious with a bottle when he tries to put her to bed. They wake up the next morning in the same bed—much to their mutual horror. He Ran kicks him out, and Yuebai is left fuming over the "assault" on his dignity and his person.

The Revenge Review

The conflict escalates when He Ran is charged 600 Yuan for the mini-bar drinks. Offended by the high price and the "rude" attitude of the receptionist (who looks down on her), He Ran writes a scathing, honest negative review online. This review goes viral, tanking the hotel's perfect rating and causing Yuebai's professional reputation to suffer.

Professional Sleepers and New Beginnings

Yuebai realizes that to save his hotel's image, he needs to deal with He Ran. He tracks her down to a film set where she is working as an extra in a horror movie. After a series of comedic misunderstandings (including He Ran scaring him with a prop "severed head"), Yuebai offers her a deal.

Instead of bribing her to delete the review, he offers her a job as a "Professional Sleeper" (Hotel Critic). He wants her to stay at the hotel for free, observe the services, and provide honest feedback to help them improve. He Ran, seeing the high salary ($2,000) and the luxury perks, eventually agrees.

The episode ends with He Ran moving back into the hotel as an official critic. While she enjoys the VIP treatment, her clumsy nature leads to her breaking an expensive vase, which she tries to hide. Meanwhile, Yuebai’s business rival, Luyan, begins to eye the situation, setting the stage for further corporate and romantic tension.

Key Themes in the Episodes:

Class Contrast: The difference between He Ran’s "survival mode" and Yuebai’s "luxury lifestyle."

Integrity vs. Profit: Shown through the bakery incident and Yuebai’s dedication to his guests.

The "Enemies to Lovers" Setup: Their initial meetings are defined by physical comedy, misunderstandings, and mutual annoyance.

Detailed Synopsis: Part 2 (Episodes 3 & 4)

Episode 3: Music, Food, and Hidden Pasts

The episode begins with CEO Xiao Yuebai and his manager discussing the hotel's new music theme. They want He Ran, in her role as the "Professional Sleeper," to help select the music. He Ran initially resists, jokingly claiming that music just makes her sleepy. However, she eventually agrees to accompany Yuebai to a live performance.

Before they leave, He Ran asks a favor: she wants Yuebai to rehire the receptionist he fired because of her earlier negative review. She argues that everyone makes mistakes and that the girl has learned her lesson. Yuebai, though hesitant, eventually agrees, and we see the receptionist back at her post, boasting about her "connections" that got her the job back.

The Introduction of Shuan:

A new character, Shuan, arrives at the airport. In a comedic mix-up, he mistakes Luyan (Yuebai’s business rival) for his driver because they are both in white. Luyan is offended by the suggestion that she looks like a driver and leaves him stranded after a sharp exchange.

The Date... That Wasn't a Date:

Yuebai and He Ran go to a piano lounge to test the music. True to her word, He Ran keeps nodding off, even resting her head on Yuebai’s shoulder. After the performance, the pianist asks for feedback. Since He Ran slept through it, she avoids the question by asking the pianist to take a photo of her and Yuebai together for her "experience report."

Afterward, He Ran takes Yuebai to her favorite "food street." This sequence highlights the difference in their worlds. While Yuebai is concerned with presentation and consistency, He Ran values taste and soul. She introduces him to a small, humble dumpling restaurant. Yuebai is critical at first, pointing out broken dishes and uneven sizes, but He Ran explains that the imperfections come from being handmade.

She shares a sentimental memory: her family used to run a "homestay" (a small inn), and the broken saucer she is using was broken on a day her father brought a large group of tourists there to eat. This reveals He Ran’s background in hospitality and why she is so observant of hotel service.

Conflict at the Hotel:

Back at the hotel, He Ran helps a maid who is crying over being scammed by an expensive skincare brand that caused her an allergic reaction. He Ran uses her social media influence (and some makeup skills on a colleague to dramatize the "rash") to force the company into a refund.

However, He Ran’s special treatment as a "Professional Sleeper" starts causing jealousy among the staff. They gossip about her being lazy and "rural," not understanding why the CEO is giving her so many perks.

Episode 4: The Warehouse Incident and False Rumors

The fourth episode kicks off with a bold question from Yuebai. He asks He Ran if she has "time to love" or "time for a date," referring to an upcoming festival. He Ran is shocked and initially declines, thinking he’s being unprofessional.

The Heroic Run:

He Ran notices an elderly guest who needs heart medication. The regular staff is dismissive, saying they aren't allowed to provide medication. Recalling her own father’s death from a heart attack, He Ran panics and runs across town to fetch the medicine herself. She delivers it just in time, but a staff member takes a photo of her accepting payment for the medicine, which could be misinterpreted as a bribe.

Trapped Together:

He Ran receives a mysterious puzzle gift and goes to Yuebai’s office to confront him about it. While they are arguing, a door malfunction traps them in a basement warehouse overnight. To make matters worse, the lights go out, and He Ran’s phone dies.

They are forced to sleep on the floor. In a humorous scene, Yuebai (the "Mr. Perfect") is terrified of rats, while He Ran tells him stories of sleeping in basements with rats she named "Zou" and "Lul."

The Scandal:

The next morning, the staff opens the warehouse to find the CEO and He Ran sleeping close to each other. Despite Yuebai’s warnings to keep it quiet, a massive rumor spreads through the hotel: people start saying they are secretly married and even have two children!

He Ran's Departure?

He Ran is furious about the rumors and decides to interview for a new job. Yuebai catches her leaving and offers her a ride. During the drive, they argue. He Ran accuses him of intentionally spreading the "married with kids" rumor to mess with her. Yuebai is genuinely baffled, as he has no idea how the rumor started or escalated to that level.

Key Highlights & Themes:

Romantic Tension: The "forced proximity" trope in the warehouse deepens the connection between the leads.

He Ran’s Trauma: We learn that her father died of a heart attack, explaining her frantic desire to help the elderly guest.

Corporate Rivalry: Luyan is frustrated because Yuebai’s "Open Kitchen" idea (inspired by He Ran’s food street visit) won them a major project.

Social Commentary: The drama touches on the power of online reviews and the toxicity of workplace gossip.

1. Failed Interviews and Scams

Following the fallout from previous episodes, He Ran attempts to find a new job. She arrives at a destination for an interview, leaving Xiao Yuebai behind in his car after a slightly awkward moment where Yuebai helps her with a stuck seatbelt, causing them to bump heads.

He Ran attends an interview at a new company, but the atmosphere is hostile. She witnesses the CEO screaming at his employees about their salaries and efficiency. When he speaks to He Ran, his tone shifts instantly to a fake pleasantness. He "hires" her on the spot without asking a single question but then reveals the catch: she must pay a "security deposit" upfront. Recognizing it as a classic employment scam, He Ran confronts him and leaves.

2. Shuan and Luyan’s Rivalry

Meanwhile, Shuan and Luyan cross paths again. Shuan continues to tease Luyan, even parking in her spot to get her attention. Luyan, who is focused on a project with a company called TY, realizes that Shuan is actually the key person behind the project she’s pursuing. At a meeting, she tries to remain professional, highlighting the renovations and five-star quality of her hotel. Shuan, however, challenges her high prices. Luyan retorts that there is a difference between "donkeys and horses," justifying the cost of luxury. Despite her efforts, Shuan remains noncommittal, and the meeting ends with Luyan discovering her car has been towed.

3. The Reunion of He Ran and Shuan

Shuan arrives at Yuebai’s hotel, where He Ran is still staying/working. In a comedic moment, the hotel receptionist thinks Shuan is coming to hug her, but he walks right past her to embrace He Ran. They are childhood friends. Shuan finds He Ran's current job as a "Professional Sleeper" confusing, but she promises to explain it during an upcoming hotel event.

4. The Hotel Event and the Scandal

At a major hotel function, two girls (Suzy and her friend) try to flirt with Shuan, but he rejects them bluntly, calling himself "too charming" for everyone and walking away to find He Ran. Jealous, Suzy and her friend decide to bully He Ran. During the confrontation, cake is accidentally spilled on Suzy’s expensive designer dress.

He Ran tries to apologize, but Suzy becomes hysterical, claiming her dress and limited-edition shoes are ruined. When Suzy tries to slap her, He Ran anticipates the move and throws water in her face instead.

5. Yuebai’s Secret Revealed

Yuebai arrives to intervene and steps in front of He Ran just as Suzy tries to retaliate with a glass of water. Yuebai takes the hit, and while He Ran tries to clean him up with a tissue, she accidentally wipes off his makeup or a piece of styling, revealing a "dark secret" or imperfection that shatters his "Mr. Perfect" image in front of the entire staff.

6. The Termination and Realization

Back at the office, Yuebai is distraught that his reputation is ruined. The receptionist shows him a photo of He Ran seemingly taking money from a guest. When He Ran comes to explain, she leaves notes saying she wants to improve. However, Yuebai is cold. He accuses her of lacking principles and terminates her contract, telling her to pack her bags.

Later, Yuebai reads the rest of her notes and realizes He Ran actually saved the life of a guest (Mr. Lin) who was having a heart attack, and the "payment" was a gesture of gratitude. CCTV footage confirms He Ran’s heroics and helpfulness toward multiple guests. Yuebai feels a deep pang of regret.

7. Life on the Streets and the Coffee Shop

A jobless He Ran is rejected by several companies due to her lack of experience. She eventually finds work at a coffee shop where the owner is a harasser. Yuebai, feeling guilty, follows her and secretly hires people to buy all her coffee so she can go inside out of the cold. He Ran catches him and tells him to stay out of her life.

Later, the coffee shop owner begins harassing He Ran. Yuebai witnesses this and punches the owner, paying off He Ran’s advanced salary to free her from the job. He officially invites her back to the hotel, but He Ran, hurt by his earlier lack of trust, refuses, saying she’d rather live with her pride.

8. The Apology and Reinstatement

As He Ran leaves on a bus, Yuebai follows the bus on foot, holding up notes—mimicking the way she communicated with him earlier. His notes say, "I know it’s my fault," "I will work on myself," and "Please forgive me." Touched by this sincere and public display of vulnerability, He Ran laughs and agrees to return, playfully asking how much he’s going to pay her.

9. The Return to the Hotel

The episode ends with a chaotic scene at the hotel. An elderly guest is causing a scene because the five-star hotel doesn't serve "hot pot." He Ran makes a grand entrance in her uniform, effectively handling the situation by hitting a "scammer" (another difficult guest) with an apple. She announces to the stunned staff that she is back and ready to work.

1. Competitive Rivals

The episode begins with Luyan meeting Xiao Yuebai. Luyan smugly mentions that while she tried to give a specific project to him, the client insisted on working with her hotel instead. Yuebai isn't bothered, correcting her that they aren't just "competitors" but "rivals." He also points out the irony that despite Luyan's hotel being "grand," her business partner, Shuan, chooses to stay at Yuebai's hotel instead. Luyan, frustrated, confronts Shuan about this, accusing him of hiding a "mistress" there. Shuan playfully plays along, much to her annoyance.

2. He Ran’s Dramatic Intervention

At the hotel, a guest attempts suicide, complaining about a betrayal by his girlfriend. The staff is paralyzed with fear, but He Ran steps in. To distract the guest, she concocts a wildly tragic (and fake) story about her own life, claiming the man she loved for years turned out to be married with two kids. Her performance is so convincing that the guest forgets his own troubles to comfort her.

While she succeeds in saving him, Yuebai is furious at the "crude" and risky method she used. He orders her to leave the scene. Amusingly, the staff whispers that the "married man with two kids" description He Ran used fits Yuebai perfectly, sparking rumors.

3. Training and "Turn Down" Services

Yuebai apologizes to He Ran after discovering she wasn't at fault in a previous incident and sends her for professional training to polish her skills. He Ran moves into a stylish new dorm room provided by the hotel.

During her training, He Ran struggles with English and professional etiquette. A misunderstanding occurs when a French guest asks if she will be his "girlfriend" (due to her cuteness), and He Ran—not understanding English—just keeps saying "Yes, yes." Yuebai intervenes, reminding her that saying "yes" to everything is dangerous.

Later, Yuebai tells He Ran he will examine her "Turn Down Services." He Ran completely misunderstands the term, thinking it implies something scandalous or "sleazy." She attempts to "expose" Yuebai by setting up a hidden camera in her room and acting provocative when he arrives. They end up falling off the bed in a clumsy scuffle. Afterward, another employee, Lu, explains that "Turn Down Service" simply means preparing the room for sleep (dimming lights, drawing curtains). He Ran is mortified by her mistake.

4. The "Spy" Mission at Blue Platinum Hotel

Yuebai sends He Ran on a "spy" mission to Luyan’s Blue Platinum Hotel during a flash sale to observe their operations. He Ran dresses casually and keeps sending Yuebai useless pictures of food and guests, which annoys him.

At the event, He Ran runs into Shuan. A game is announced on stage requiring two couples. In a moment of jealousy and professional tension, both Yuebai and Shuan end up on stage. He Ran pairs up with Yuebai (her boss), while Shuan is forced to pair with Luyan. The game turns into a silent battle of egos between the two men.

5. A Spicy Dinner and a Bus Ride

The four have dinner afterward. Shuan and Yuebai continue to bicker, with Shuan ordering the spiciest food possible for Yuebai, knowing he can't handle it. The spice causes Yuebai’s "dark circles" (his secret skin condition) to flare up. He Ran, noticing this, uses a "panda" picture to alert him.

After leaving, He Ran forces Yuebai—who usually only travels in luxury cars—to take a public bus with her as a "punishment" for his behavior. On the bus, He Ran protects a sleeping Yuebai from bumping his head against the window. They both oversleep and end up at the final stop far from the hotel. Since He Ran’s feet hurt from her heels, Yuebai finds a trolley and pushes her the rest of the way, showing a rare, charming side of his personality.

6. The Morning After for Shuan and Luyan

Luyan wakes up at Shuan’s place to find her hands tied. Shuan explains that she got completely out of control while drunk the night before, and tying her up was the only way to keep her safe. Luyan is embarrassed and tells him to just send her home next time she drinks.

7. The Ghost in the Elevator

The episode takes a supernatural turn toward the end. A guest at the resort hotel reports a terrifying encounter in the elevator with a creepy little girl who claimed to have "no hands" and asked the guest to press the buttons for her.

The staff is spooked, with Lu claiming she heard a child crying during her night shift. He Ran tries to act tough, claiming nothing scares her because she is "broken inside," but when the lights suddenly go out while she's eating alone, her bravado vanishes. The part ends with a glimpse of a genuine, scary figure lurking in the shadows of the hotel.

1. The Hotel "Ghost" Mystery Unveiled

The episode begins with the hotel staff in a state of panic over rumors that the resort is haunted. A guest complains about being disturbed by a neighbor knocking on the wall, but it is revealed the adjacent room is empty. When a receptionist investigates, the lights flicker, and she flees in terror. Rumors spread that the hotel was built over a graveyard.

However, Xiao Yuebai and He Ran eventually investigate the source of the strange noises. They discover a hidden door in a storage area. Inside, they find a man hiding. Initially terrified that he is a ghost, Yuebai screams, but the "specter" turns out to be a former security guard who was fired. Having no home, he had been living secretly in the hotel's crawl spaces. This discovery puts the ghost rumors to rest, though Yuebai is slightly embarrassed by his own fearful reaction.

2. The Professional and Personal Tug-of-War

He Ran helps Yuebai secure a major contract with a French guest. The guest is so impressed by He Ran's dedication that he tries to hug her, but a jealous Yuebai intervenes, hugging the guest himself to prevent him from touching He Ran, claiming Chinese women are "reserved."

Later, Shuan attempts to romance He Ran in his hotel room, setting up a heart-shaped candle arrangement. He Ran, sensing his intentions but wanting to keep things professional (and perhaps not reciprocating), intentionally ruins the mood by critiquing the food and atmosphere like a strict employee. Yuebai, hearing He Ran is in Shuan's room, rushes there and drags her out under the guise of "official duty."

3. The Mango Allergy Scandal

A new crisis emerges when He Ran finds a young girl named Nio wandering the hotel alone. Nio’s mother is a busy career woman who often leaves her child unattended. Feeling sympathetic, He Ran gives Nio a piece of cake. Tragically, the cake contains mango, and Nio has a severe allergy, causing her to collapse.

The incident sparks a massive public relations nightmare. Luyan, Yuebai’s business rival, seizes the opportunity to smear the hotel's reputation by tipping off the press. Nio’s mother, egged on by a predatory lawyer named Mr. He, threatens to sue. He Ran feels immense guilt and offers her resignation to protect the hotel.

4. Resolution of the Crisis

Yuebai refuses to give up on He Ran. He obtains security footage showing that Nio chose the cake herself. More importantly, He Ran visits Nio in the hospital. Nio confesses that she ate the mango cake on purpose because she wanted her mother’s attention and was lonely after her parents' divorce.

Realizing the truth, Nio’s mother drops the lawsuit and fires the lawyer. Yuebai "punishes" He Ran by rejecting her resignation but docking her bonus for one month. To show the staff he actually appreciates her, he then announces that because the hotel’s profits are up by 17%, everyone (except He Ran) will receive a double bonus—effectively making He Ran's "punishment" a way to keep the peace while supporting the team.

5. He Ran’s Grandmother and Yuebai’s Past

The emotional core of the episode centers on He Ran’s grandmother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s. The nursing home calls He Ran, reporting that her grandmother is missing. He Ran and Yuebai search frantically and find her wandering the streets, asking strangers if they've seen He Ran. When she sees He Ran, she doesn't recognize her at first but hands her a lunch box of cold dumplings—He Ran's favorite.

He Ran breaks down, explaining that this woman isn't her biological grandmother but a kind soul who took her in after her parents died. They lived in poverty, often crying together from hunger. This story deeply affects Yuebai, triggering memories of his own cold childhood and his father telling him to be "strong" and forget his mother. This shared vulnerability brings the two leads closer than ever.

6. The Morning After

The episode ends on a comedic note. He Ran wakes up in Yuebai’s bed, confused. She later learns from the staff that she got incredibly drunk the night before. She had insisted on staying in Yuebai’s room and even demanded he provide her with "Turn Down Services" (preparing the bed for sleep), treating her boss like her personal servant. He Ran is mortified to realize how much she embarrassed herself in front of the man she is starting to love.

1. The Elevator Truth & Romantic Confusion

The episode opens with He Ran’s colleagues teasing her about her relationship with Xiao Yuebai. He Ran is confused about what happened the night she got drunk, so she sneaks into the hotel’s security control room. After bribing the guard with coffee, she reviews the CCTV footage and is shocked—and secretly thrilled—to see that Yuebai kissed her in the elevator

Initially, she wonders if she forced the kiss upon him, but the realization that Yuebai likes her puts her on cloud nine. However, when she tries to talk to him, she loses her nerve and hangs up Yuebai is equally frustrated, waiting for her to apologize for calling him a "dog" earlier in a clumsy metaphor about their night together.

2. The Return of the Chairman

The stakes rise when Yuebai’s father, Chairman Xiao, arrives at the hotel. He is a stern, controlling man who treats the hotel like his personal kingdom and Yuebai like a subordinate rather than a son. He is joined by Luyan, whom he views as the perfect bride for Yuebai.

A major conflict erupts when Chairman Xiao attempts to smoke inside the hotel. He Ran, unaware of who he is, snatches the cigarette from his mouth and gives him a lollipop instead, lecturing him on the health risks of smoking and the hotel's rules  Enraged by her "impertinence," the Chairman demands Yuebai fire her. Yuebai refuses, stating that if He Ran is fired, he will resign as well [22:25]. This defiance sets the stage for a bitter father-son rivalry.

3. He Ran’s Mother: A Painful Reunion

A parallel plotline involves a wealthy guest, Mrs. Tiana, and her spoiled daughter. He Ran has several run-ins with the daughter, who is arrogant and treats the staff poorly. In a shocking twist, He Ran realizes that Mrs. Tiana is actually her biological mother, who abandoned her 20 years ago

The confrontation between them is heartbreaking. Mrs. Tiana tries to explain that she left because He Ran’s father was drowning in debt and she couldn't handle the poverty. He Ran remains cold, pointing out that while her mother has been living in luxury, she and her father suffered immensely. He Ran eventually returns a 20-year-old lollipop to her mother—the same one her mother gave her the day she left—symbolizing the end of their relationship

4. Shuan and Luyan’s Scheming

Meanwhile, Shuan (He Ran’s childhood friend) and Luyan form an alliance to break up Yuebai and He Ran. Shuan wants He Ran for himself, while Luyan wants Yuebai. However, their partnership is full of bickering. Shuan tries to convince Luyan that her feelings for Yuebai aren't real love because her "heart doesn't beat fast" when they are near.

In a drunken moment, Luyan and Shuan end up spending the night in the same room. Luyan wakes up to find Shuan has drawn funny faces on her skin while she was asleep Despite their mutual annoyance, there are hints of a budding, albeit chaotic, attraction between them.

5. Yuebai’s Confession

To help He Ran deal with the trauma of seeing her mother, Yuebai takes her to his boxing studio to release her frustration. Seeing her in pain, he comforts her and finally admits his feelings. When He Ran confesses she likes him too but fears his father will reject her, Yuebai promises that as long as he is there, no one can take her away

6. The Disastrous Family Lunch

The episode reaches a climax during a formal lunch arranged by Chairman Xiao for Yuebai and Luyan’s families. To humiliate He Ran, the Chairman orders her to serve the table. He Ran is visibly angry, making snide remarks as she serves food. When Luyan tries to flirtatiously feed Yuebai a shrimp, He Ran snatches it and eats it herself . Yuebai eventually pulls He Ran away from the table to prevent a further scene, but the tension between the couple remains high as Yuebai struggles to stand up to his father’s marriage arrangements.

1. The Final Goodbye to Mom

The episode begins with a heavy heart as He Ran’s mother prepares to leave the hotel for good. Before she departs, Xiao Yuebai meets her and hands her a small box from He Ran. Inside the box is her old ID card—the same one He Ran had taken from her wallet 20 years ago so she would never forget her mother's face

The mother leaves an envelope for He Ran containing a bank card with a large sum of money, asking Yuebai to take care of her daughter. As she drives away, she breaks down in tears, regretting the 20-year gap but knowing she cannot force He Ran to love her. He Ran, watching from a distance, is overwhelmed with grief. Despite her anger, losing her mother a second time is painful. In an act of defiance and hurt, she throws the money-filled envelope away, choosing her dignity over her mother's wealth

2. Miss Lena’s Heartbreak

The mysterious guest, Miss Lena, becomes a central figure in this episode. He Ran finds her in a vulnerable state and fears she might be suicidal. However, Lena clarifies that she isn't weak; she is simply haunted by her past

Lena shares her story with He Ran: three years ago, she was deeply in love with a man named Jawa. They were inseparable and planned a life together, but he vanished suddenly without a word. Lena has spent three years waiting and searching for him. She feels she has finally reached her limit and needs closure. Inspired by Lena's pain, He Ran decides to help her track Jawa down using the hotel's data and logs, though Yuebai initially warns her that this is unprofessional and an invasion of privacy

3. The Internal Struggle of Xiao Yuebai

While He Ran deals with family and guests, Xiao Yuebai is facing a professional crisis. His father, the Chairman, continues to treat him like a failure despite the hotel's success. Yuebai reveals to He Ran that his father is planning to hand over the hotel to someone else, effectively pushing Yuebai out

Yuebai expresses his deep frustration, questioning why his father hates him so much. He has worked tirelessly to prove himself, yet he is still viewed as a "loser" in his father's eyes. He tells He Ran that the hotel is the most important thing to him, as it represents the foundation laid by his parents, and he refuses to let it be taken away without a fight

4. A Moment of Vulnerability

As the stress of his father's return and the hotel's uncertain future weighs on him, Yuebai turns to He Ran for comfort. He admits that life has become incredibly complicated and tough. In a surprising and bold move, he suggests that they should book a room together to escape the pressure for a while and just relax  He Ran is shocked by the suggestion, as she didn't expect him to be so forward, but she realizes how much he needs her support during this difficult time.

The Night at the Hotel

The episode starts with He Ran and Yuebai staying in a hotel room together. At first, they feel very shy and uncomfortable sharing a bed. Yuebai even falls off the bed trying to keep his distance [00:37]! To relax, they have a drink and end up sharing a romantic kiss.

Yuebai tells He Ran that he is very sad about potentially losing his hotel because it holds all the memories of his late mother. When he sees the hotel succeed, he feels like his mother is smiling. He Ran comforts him, telling him that life has many ups and downs and he shouldn't be so hard on himself.

A New Business Idea

The next morning, He Ran notices that many guests are unhappy with the hotel service. She comes up with a brilliant plan: the hotel should sell its high-quality products, like mattresses, towels, and sheets, online. She believes people want the comfort of a hotel in their own homes. Yuebai loves this idea.

However, Yuebai’s father is planning to sell the hotel to a rival, Mr. Ling. Yuebai goes to the meeting and asks the board of directors for three months to save the hotel. He promises that if he cannot fix the losses in three months, he will step down. Because of his passion and new plan, they agree to give him one last chance

Working Together

To save the hotel, Yuebai and He Ran team up with their friends, Luyan and Shuan. Even though Shuan is the son of Yuebai's rival, he decides to help by introducing Yuebai to big clients Together, they work day and night to promote the hotel.

He Ran also makes a secret deal with Yuebai's father. She convinces him to support his son instead of selling the hotel. In exchange, she agrees to go away for two years of professional training to improve her career

The Two-Year Separation

The time comes for He Ran to leave. She visits her grandmother in a nursing home to say goodbye, which is very emotional On the way to the airport, she is sad because Yuebai hasn't called her. She thinks he doesn't care. But she finds out that the driver of her car is actually Yuebai himself! He tells her he is proud of her and will wait for her to become successful

During the two years, they both work very hard. Yuebai stops using makeup to hide his dark circles because he finally feels confident and happy without it  Shuan and Luyan also get married during this time

The Grand Proposal

When He Ran finally returns to China after two years, she acts very busy and ignores Yuebai at first, making him very nervous. He thinks she might have found someone else.
