Sold Out On You (2026) — Episode 1 Synopsis
The premiere episode of Sold Out On You introduces a classic "clash of worlds" setup, contrasting the hyper-busy, high-stakes life of a city home-shopping host with the quiet, community-oriented lifestyle of a rural farmer.
Key Characters
Han Ye-jin: A brilliant, workaholic home-shopping host for the "HIT" shopping network. Despite her career success, she suffers from severe insomnia and anxiety due to a past professional trauma.
Matthew: A warm-hearted, beloved young farmer who cultivates "Nuri Mushrooms" in a quiet countryside village. He values peace, hates loud noises, and is deeply devoted to helping his neighbors.
Eric: The executive director of "Etoile," a prestigious French cosmetics brand looking to secure raw materials in Korea. He shares a mysterious past connection with Ye-jin.
Sung-mi: A television PD and Ye-jin's loyal, blunt friend of four years.
Hyeon-gi: The demanding director of the HIT shopping network.
The episode kicks off with a chaotic product launch at the HIT home shopping network. When Ye-jin fails to show up on the studio set on time, her production director, Sung-mi, is furious. However, Ye-jin makes a spectacular, high-risk entrance: she is suspended on a lift outside a skyscraper, demonstrating the durability of the promotional gloves firsthand. Her daring stunt pays off instantly, driving sales to an immediate sell-out.
Despite her massive success, Ye-jin's personal life is in shambles. Her boyfriend, Woo-shik (a busy doctor), meets her at a restaurant and breaks up with her. He complains that while he treats hundreds of patients daily, he still prioritizes her, whereas she is entirely married to her job. Even during the breakup, Ye-jin is distracted—staring at the steak knife on their table and immediately planning to pitch it as her next sales product.
The narrative shifts to Matthew, a young man enjoying a peaceful life in a rural village. He is the community’s ultimate helper—fixing TV antennas, delivering calves in the pouring rain, and giving elderly villagers rides on his tractor. He despises noise, even planning to change his tractor’s engine because of its loud rumble.
Matthew is also a specialized farmer growing "Nuri Mushrooms." His close friend Moon runs a bio-company that processes these mushrooms. When Eric, the director of the French cosmetics brand Etoile, tries to renew a raw material supply contract with Moon, he is rejected. It is revealed that Matthew threw Etoile’s proposal straight into the trash because he refuses to compromise his values.
Back at HIT network, Ye-jin's refusal to promote cosmetics becomes an issue. Years ago, she endorsed a cosmetic product that caused severe skin reactions, leading to public protests and leaving her with deep psychological scars, anxiety, and a dependency on sleeping pills.
Because of rising competition from rival networks, the director, Hyeon-gi, shuffles Ye-jin's schedule and sidelines her. Hyeon-gi demands a steep price for Ye-jin to get her prime slot back: she must secure a partnership with the highly sought-after French brand, Etoile.
Ye-jin sets up a meeting with Etoile's representative, Eric. Eric, who seemingly remembers Ye-jin from her past, agrees to the partnership on one condition: HIT must help him convince the stubborn rural farmer (Matthew) to renew his raw material supply contract with Moon’s bio-company. Eager to reclaim her career, Ye-jin accepts the challenge.
Ye-jin spends the entire night researching Nuri mushrooms and drives down to Matthew’s village. As she navigates a narrow, single-lane dirt country road, her car comes face-to-face with Matthew's tractor.
Initially, Ye-jin assumes the driver is an elderly local because of his cap and demands he back up. But when Matthew removes his cap, Ye-jin is taken aback by how young and handsome he is. Matthew calmly explains the local rules of the road: his tractor's reverse gear is faulty, and backing up on the slope could cause it to overturn. He asks her to reverse her car.
Refusing to back down, an frustrated Ye-jin begins aggressively honking her horn, declaring that she won't reverse either. The episode draws to a close with the two main characters locked in a stubborn, comical standoff in the middle of the countryside.
Sold Out On You (2026) — Episode 2 Synopsis
In the second episode of Sold Out On You, the tension between the ambitious city slicker Han Ye-jin and the stubborn country farmer Matthew deepens. As corporate pressure forces Ye-jin back to the village, a series of comical misunderstandings and an unexpected twist bring the two closer than they ever anticipated.
Following the narrow road standoff, Ye-jin reluctantly decides to reverse her car. However, she lacks country-road driving skills and gets her car stuck in a ditch. Refusing to ask Matthew for help, she storms off on foot to find the "mushroom farm owner."
Matthew, trying to squeeze his tractor past her abandoned car, accidentally clips and breaks her side-mirror. Unaware of the damage, Ye-jin continues her search. She eventually spots Matthew working in a mushroom greenhouse and assumes he is merely a low-level farmhand. She hands him her HIT network business card, demanding he pass it on to his "boss," unaware that Matthew is the owner.
Needing to return to Seoul for her broadcast, Ye-jin returns to her car and is horrified to find her side-mirror broken. Desperate, she tries to catch the local bus. Seeing Matthew's tractor pass by with elderly villagers, she runs after it, trips, and falls. Matthew stops to help her up. In a classic rom-com moment, she mistakes him reaching toward his pocket (where a glove is sticking out) as him offering his hand, leading to an awkward, embarrassing interaction.
At the bus stop, the bus driver attempts to pull away earlier than scheduled. Matthew aggressively blocks the bus with his tractor and boards it, fiercely lecturing the driver on behalf of the elderly villagers. Ye-jin is deeply touched by his protective warmth, though she quickly ruins her own cool demeanor by accidentally sitting in the wrong seat and getting flustered.
Meanwhile, back in Seoul Eric's Secret: Eric's secretary digs up Ye-jin's past cosmetics scandal, but Eric defends her. A flashback reveals how they met: during a sudden downpour, Ye-jin had randomly ducked under Eric's umbrella to ask where he bought it. They shared an instant connection, and Eric asked her out to lunch, but Ye-jin stood him up. Eric is determined not to let her slip away this time.
Corporate Backstabbing: Ye-jin's rival, Yun-ji, and the ruthless Director Hyeon-gi corner Ye-jin about the Etoile cosmetics contract. They pressure her to take it, reminding her of her obligation to the team, despite her past trauma.
To promote a "therapy blanket," HIT network runs a giveaway. An elderly village woman named Gyeom wins the contest. Since Gyeom didn't know her Resident ID, Matthew had registered her using his own ID. Seeing the winning address, Ye-jin personally travels back to the village to deliver the package, hoping it will lead her to the mysterious farm owner.
While staying overnight at Gyeom’s house, Ye-jin agrees to help her catch runaway chickens. One chicken escapes into Matthew's yard. As Ye-jin tries to scale his wall, Matthew catches her in the act and, assuming she is a stalker/trespasser, calls the police.
At the police station, Ye-jin turns the tables. She plays her car's dashcam footage, proving Matthew broke her side-mirror. She threatens him with the 10-million-won repair bill and the threat of a public scandal unless he drops the trespassing charges. Matthew yields, and they strike a deal: he drops the charges, and she demands he either pay the 10 million won or hand over the farm owner's number. Stubborn as ever, Matthew chooses to pay the money and forces her to sign a contract promising never to step foot on his property again.
Naturally, Ye-jin breaks the contract immediately. She sneaks into his high-tech, organic mushroom facility and is mesmerized by how beautifully the Nuri mushrooms are cultivated. Matthew catches her, but the hostility softens. In a quiet, intimate moment, he gently plucks a stray chicken feather from her hair. He explains that his mushrooms are completely organic (demonstrated by eating one raw), and Ye-jin finds herself smiling at his passion.
That night, both are plagued by restless thoughts:
Matthew is bombarded with spam messages from his business associate, Moon, begging him to sign the Etoile contract. Fed up, Matthew goes online and changes his phone number.
Ye-jin, suffering from severe insomnia, stands outside under the starlight. Feeling incredibly lonely, vulnerable, and homesick, she decides to call her mother.
However, because Matthew has just registered his brand-new phone number, Ye-jin misdials and accidentally calls him. Thinking she is speaking to her mother, Ye-jin breaks down in tears over the phone. On the other end, recognizing her voice, Matthew silently listens to her cry as the episode draws to a close.
Sold Out On You
(2026) — Episode 3
Synopsis
Episode 3 of Sold Out On You dives deep into the emotional trauma of Han Ye-jin's childhood, solves the mystery of Matthew’s identity, and ends with a heart-pounding rescue that shifts their dynamic from hostile to protective.
Plot Breakdown
The episode opens with a poignant flashback. As a child, Ye-jin discovered a hidden photo of her father, herself, and the famous actress Myung-wa. Realizing Myung-wa was her mother, she begged her father to let them meet. Gyeong reluctantly arranged a meeting.
To protect her public image, Myung-wa forbade Ye-jin from visiting her but gave her a phone number, promising to take her calls every Sunday at 8:00 PM. This weekly phone call became Ye-jin’s lifeline. However, years later, Myung-wa met with a car accident. A panicked Ye-jin rushed to the hospital and cried out "Mom!" in front of a swarm of reporters. Terrified of a scandal, Myung-wa rejected her publicly, ordering her security to kick Ye-jin out. Ye-jin's father later blocked Myung-wa from contacting Ye-jin again to prevent further emotional damage, leading to a deep rift between father and daughter.
In the present, Ye-jin's emotional breakdown on the phone is received by Matthew (who now owns her mother's old number). Distressed, Matthew tells her to stop spamming him or he will call the police. The next morning, Matthew proves Ye-jin was right about the chicken trespassing by returning the hen and an egg to her. He tries to pay for her broken car mirror, but she secretly slips the money back into his toolbox.
During a tractor ride to the bus stop, Ye-jin’s friend Sung-mi forces Ye-jin to sit right next to Matthew. Amidst the awkward tension, Matthew quietly apologizes for his harsh behavior. Meanwhile, Jin-li (So-mly's sister) spots Ye-jin on Matthew's tractor and grows suspicious.
During a live home-shopping broadcast, Matthew calls in to complain that the "therapy bathtub/blanket" prize he won isn't working. He identifies himself on the call as "Hye-seok."
Ye-jin instantly recognizes his voice. Connecting the dots from her earlier conversation with Eric (who mentioned a stubborn bio-company co-CEO named Hye-seok) and her father’s background checks, she realizes Matthew is the elusive co-CEO and the actual farm owner.
Determined to secure the Etoile contract, Ye-jin returns to the village disguised as a "customer service agent" to inspect his "malfunctioning" bathtub. They end up in a hilarious argument where both of them sit in adjacent bathtubs to test them. To prove the tub works and that he is sweating, Ye-jin tickles Matthew, leading to an intimate moment when he grabs her hand. When she finally confronts him about his identity and begs him to renew the contract, he promptly kicks her out.
Ye-jin refuses to leave the village and sneaks into Matthew's mushroom greenhouse to work alongside his employees. Matthew spots her and demands she leave. He explains his stubborn refusal to work with Etoile: "They broke our trust once. We never work with untrustworthy partners." As Ye-jin continues to pester him on the road, she trips. Matthew fails to catch her in time, and she suffers a fractured arm. Guilt-ridden, Matthew drives her to the clinic on his tractor, where she gets a plaster cast.
Despite her severe pain, Ye-jin removes her cast the next day to perform her live broadcast with professional perfection. Watching her on television, Matthew notices her subtle winces of pain and realizes how incredibly hardworking and resilient she is.
Ye-jin returns home, where her father Gyeong tries to fuss over her. Exhausted and in pain, she lashes out at him, venting years of pent-up anger over his interference with her mother.
Distressed and lonely in her room, Ye-jin dial's her "mother's" number again. Matthew answers. A dazed, emotional Ye-jin confesses her immense stress and her guilt over fighting with her father. Suddenly, Matthew hears the sound of glass shattering over the line. Alarmed when Ye-jin stops responding, Matthew runs to his car and drives off to find her.
Ye-jin, having accidentally cut her finger on the broken glass, wanders out onto a dark road toward a convenience store in a daze. As an oncoming car speeds toward her, Matthew arrives just in time. He pulls her out of harm's way, drawing her close to his chest as they lock eyes in the headlights.
Sold Out On You
(2026) — Episode 4
Synopsis
Episode 4 of Sold Out On You beautifully balances lighthearted community comedy with emotional intensity. As Han Ye-jin and Matthew grow closer through a shared village crisis, their past vulnerabilities start coming to light, culminating in an unforgettable, protective promise.
Following the near-accident on the dark road, Matthew reprimands Ye-jin for her recklessness. However, he quickly realizes she is dazed and sleepwalking. Noticing her feet are scratched and bleeding—recalling a painful childhood memory of his own—Matthew rushes to a pharmacy, buys her a pair of comfortable slippers, and applies medicine to her wounds.
Matthew quietly follows her home to ensure her safety. At her apartment building, a half-asleep Ye-jin repeatedly inputs the wrong door passcode, nearly hitting her head against the doorframe before Matthew quickly shields her with his hand. In the elevator, a sensory-overloaded Ye-jin clings to Matthew, admiring his scent and sleepily calling him a "jerk." After she collapses on her living room floor, Matthew tenderly carries her to the sofa, cleans up her broken glass pot, and leaves.
The next morning, Ye-jin wakes up on her couch with bandaged feet and no memory of how she got there. Back at the village, Matthew’s young neighbor So-mly catches him browsing Ye-jin's profile on his laptop. So-mly teases him mercilessly, pointing out that Ye-jin is incredibly pretty and asking if he has a crush on her.
During a wardrobe fitting in Seoul, Ye-jin realizes her dress is too tight. She jokingly attributes it to the hearty country meals she eats whenever she visits Matthew's village. Eager to see him again, she drives back to the countryside.
There, she finds Matthew and the villagers facing a major agricultural crisis. Sung-mi's son-in-law, who runs a local liquor factory and usually purchases their corn, is facing severe financial difficulties and cannot afford the crop. Facing a total loss of their hard work, the villagers are devastated.
Stepping up, Ye-jin proposes a solution: "Don't worry, my name is Han Ye-jin." She sets up an impromptu mobile live-stream broadcast right from the cornfields. Using her exceptional hosting skills, she promotes the fresh local corn, and the entire inventory sells out within minutes, saving the village from financial ruin.
The exhausting live stream in the blazing heat takes a toll on Ye-jin, and she collapses from heatstroke. She wakes up at the local clinic, momentarily mistaking Matthew's goofy friend Kwang-mo for Matthew and hugging him in confusion. The doctor tells Matthew that she is fine but needs rest, fueling local rumors that Ye-jin is Matthew's secret girlfriend.
Later, at Matthew's house, a dizzy Ye-jin collapses onto the floor. As she attempts to crawl to the couch, Matthew comes over. Expecting a romantic princess-carry, Ye-jin is hilariously disappointed when Matthew simply adjusts the blanket underneath her first. However, he eventually scoops her up in his arms and places her gently on the sofa.
Meanwhile, a hilarious parallel romance begins to brew. Kwang-mo is driving his tractor down the same narrow road from Episode 1 when he encounters Sung-mi’s car. Repeating the exact standoff, Sung-mi refuses to back up and gets her car stuck. Kwang-mo gets out and effortlessly lifts the rear of her car back onto the road. Sung-mi is instantly smitten by his raw strength, though she desperately tries to deny her attraction to his "potato-like" face.
Back in Seoul, Ye-jin has a chance encounter with Eric at a cafe. As they walk out, a sudden downpour begins. Reversing their first encounter, Ye-jin shares her umbrella with Eric. Grateful, Eric invites her to dinner. Ye-jin agrees but sets a firm professional boundary: "I never date people I do business with." Respecting her, Eric agrees to wait until the Etoile partnership is finalized.
At home, Matthew finds Ye-jin's bottle of insomnia medication under his couch. He calls her to arrange a meetup to return it. They agree to meet halfway at a suburban cafe.
However, a sudden water leak at Matthew’s high-tech mushroom farm threatens his entire organic crop, forcing him to stay behind to save the mushrooms. Unaware of his emergency, Ye-jin arrives at the meeting spot. In a stroke of bad luck, she accidentally drops her car keys down a roadside drain grate, locking her phone and purse inside the vehicle.
As night falls, the cafe closes and the lights go out. Left alone in the pitch black, Ye-jin suffers a severe panic attack as her childhood trauma of waiting hours in the dark for her mother resurfaces. She trembles in fear, completely helpless.
Suddenly, a pair of bright car headlights cut through the darkness. Matthew has arrived. Overwhelmed with relief and fear, Ye-jin runs into his arms and hugs him tightly, crying. Matthew holds her close, deeply apologizing for being late.
When a shaken Ye-jin begs him to return her sleeping pills, Matthew makes a bold, heart-stopping decision. He hands her just a single pill and says:
"I can't give you all of them. I will give you only one pill a day. So... let's meet every single day."
The episode flashes back to the sleepwalking night. Matthew recalls the emotional confession Ye-jin made when she accidentally called him, thinking he was her mother: "Mom, I met a strange but good man in that village. When I'm with him, I feel like everything will be okay. Can I try believing in him instead of myself?"
Back in the present, under the warm glow of the headlights, they lock eyes in a profound, silent understanding.
Sold Out On You
(2026) — Episode 5
Synopsis
Episode 5 of Sold Out On You brings the central conflict to a boil. As Han Ye-jin and Matthew solidify their daily meeting "deal," their emotional bond deepens. However, professional rivalry, unresolved trauma, and a sudden manufacturing crisis threaten to ruin Ye-jin’s career just as she is about to make her grand comeback.
Picking up immediately from the heart-stopping moment in the headlights, Matthew explains his real motive: he has officially agreed to sign the raw material supply contract with Etoile. Ye-jin is overjoyed, realizing her prime-time home-shopping slot is safe. To maintain his condition of meeting "every single day" to hand her one sleeping pill at a time, they exchange phone numbers. However, Matthew—too shy to directly give her his private line—secretly gives her his friend Kwang-mo's number instead.
On the long drive back to Seoul, Ye-jin pretends to sleep but remains awake. Matthew, who suffered from severe insomnia in his past and studied chemistry, notices her struggles. He plays a soothing, low-frequency song that he usually plays for his plants to help them rest, and to Ye-jin’s amazement, she naturally drifts off to sleep without her medication.
With the Etoile partnership finalized, the HIT shopping network prepares to launch its first major product: an organic perfume.
During a promotional photoshoot at Matthew's mushroom farm, a tense love triangle begins to form:
The Interruption: As Ye-jin and Eric are warmly chatting, a visibly jealous Matthew physically wedges himself between them to break up the conversation.
The Broken Mushroom: Later, during the shoot, watching Ye-jin and Eric pose closely together causes Matthew so much distress that he accidentally snaps one of his beloved organic mushrooms—shocking his entire crew, as he has never damaged his crops before.
The Spicy Dinner Standoff: At a group dinner, Ye-jin is seated directly between Matthew and Eric. When the local villagers watch to see who Ye-jin will look after, both men stubbornly eat extremely spicy chili peppers. Although Ye-jin is unsure who to hand water to, Eric quickly grabs a cup, while Matthew glares at them in silent jealousy.
Meanwhile, a secondary romance shifts as Sung-mi serves food to Kwang-mo, sparking a sudden heartbeat change in Kwang-mo. Confused by his growing attraction to her, Kwang-mo visits the local clinic to get his heart checked.
Ye-jin's professional anxiety is triggered when her estranged mother, Myung-wa, corners her. Myung-wa cruelly blames Ye-jin for almost ruining her life five years ago and warns her against making another mistake. Despite the emotional blow, Ye-jin remains determined to make the perfume launch a success.
Meanwhile, Ye-jin and Matthew continue their daily drug-dispensing meetings in Seoul. When Matthew spots her buying random, ineffective sleep aids at a store, he stops her, gently chiding her: "Do you want to sleep forever?" He takes her to a beautiful, serene park near her apartment that she never knew existed. There, she confesses that she doesn't want to sleep tonight because she needs to prepare for tomorrow's launch. Matthew comforts her, offering warm encouragement: "You've done well so far, and you'll do great tomorrow. Just believe in yourself."
Just hours before the live broadcast, Matthew runs some final quality control tests on the manufactured perfume bottles in his lab. To his horror, the results reveal bacterial and viral contamination (microbes) within the batch.
Realizing the extreme danger, Matthew tries to call Ye-jin, but she is busy prepping. He rushes to his business partner, Moon, demanding they halt the broadcast. Moon argues that it's too late as the show starts in an hour, but Matthew refuses to back down and drives straight to the Seoul studio.
Matthew breaches security and finds Ye-jin just as she is about to walk onto the live stage. He shows her the lab results, begging her to stop. Ye-jin, devastated, argues that she cannot break her promise to her customers. She goes ahead with the show, while security guards hold Matthew back.
However, as the cameras roll and Ye-jin addresses the viewers, her professional integrity wins over corporate pressure. Staring at the camera, she makes a shocking live announcement: "We cannot launch this perfume today." The episode ends on this massive cliffhanger.
Sold Out On You
(2026) — Episode 6
Synopsis
Episode 6 of Sold Out On You acts as a beautiful, healing turning point in the series. Following the dramatic, self-sabotaging live-stream announcement, Ye-jin faces severe corporate backlash, leading to her exile from the city. Under Matthew's care in his quiet country home, she begins a strict healing regimen and discovers the profound depth of his silent devotion.
Immediately following Ye-jin's shocking live announcement canceling the perfume launch, she is cornered by furious executives. Director Hyeon-gi rages that prime-time slots cost millions of won per minute. However, Ye-jin stands firm: "Until I am 100% sure a product is safe, I will not launch it." Waiting outside the studio, Matthew warmly consoles a shaken Ye-jin, embracing her. Watching from a distance, a heartbroken Eric observes their intimacy and quietly walks away.
While Ye-jin becomes the target of severe online backlash, Eric investigates and discovers the production team was indeed aware of the bacterial contamination. He demands his factory halt production. However, his sister, Michelle (the Etoile Deputy CEO), issues a public statement shifting 100% of the blame onto Ye-jin's "erratic behavior," demanding she pay massive cancellation penalties.
At a high-level corporate meeting, Ye-jin refuses to participate in a "follow-up cover-up broadcast" to salvage the launch. Uncompromising in her integrity, her contract with the HIT shopping network is terminated, and she packs up her things. To make matters worse, her estranged mother, Myung-wa, visits only to mock her failure. Ye-jin fiercely retorts: "You're telling me to run away... but I will never be like you. I won't abandon my daughter and flee."
Plagued by extreme stress, Ye-jin's insomnia peaks. In a daze, she begins sleepwalking barefoot out of her apartment. She calls Matthew (believing she is calling her mother) and whispers that she is on her way to do her broadcast.
Recognizing the distant traffic sounds over the dead phone, Matthew rushes into Seoul to find her. He spots her wandering aimlessly in front of the HIT headquarters. To protect her from oncoming employees, Matthew sweeps her into his arms, hiding her. Seeing her bloodied, barefoot soles, he removes his own shoes and gently slips them onto her feet.
The next morning, Ye-jin wakes up safe, but emotionally broken, screaming at Matthew to leave. Recognizing she cannot heal in this toxic city environment, Matthew tells her to pack her bags—he is taking her to the countryside.
Upon arriving at the village, Ye-jin collapses from exhaustion and is treated at the local clinic. Realizing she has nowhere else to stay, the local villagers conspire to play matchmaker. Led by Sung-mi, every single villager invents a ridiculous excuse as to why Ye-jin cannot stay with them, eventually leaving Matthew's home as the only available shelter. So-mly jokingly points out how incredibly obvious their setup is.
Matthew brings Ye-jin to his quiet, tidy home under one condition: "You have to live by my rules here."
To help her overcome her insomnia naturally, Matthew draws up a strict, school-like daily routine for Ye-jin, including sunrise jogging, healthy eating, and screen-free time. When she sneaks off to drink coffee, he confiscates it. During her yoga sessions, he places headphones on her ears playing low-frequency, calming organic music.
One night, Ye-jin wakes up to drink water and witnesses Matthew acting incredibly bizarrely. He appears to be sleepwalking himself—shuffling around the room, measuring furniture, and cutting wood with a hand-saw. She falls back asleep, thinking he is just a very strange man.
The next day, during a quiet late-night chat, they sit together under the starlight reading poetry. Ye-jin drifts off to sleep, her head resting gently on Matthew's shoulder.
While Matthew is away working late at the laboratory, a bored Ye-jin decides to clean his house. While tidying, she makes a series of staggering discoveries:
She finds the cozy socks Matthew put on her at the clinic carefully kept in a drawer.
She notices that all the sharp corners of the wooden tables, doors, and counter edges have been carefully padded with soft, protective cushions.
She realizes the "bizarre sleepwalking" she witnessed Matthew doing with the saw was actually him painstakingly sanding down and baby-proofing every hazard in the house to protect her if she were to sleepwalk at night.
He had even installed a tiny, quiet bell on the front door so he would instantly know if she tried to wander outside in her sleep.
Overwhelmed by the realization of his silent, meticulous care, Ye-jin's heart melts.
That night, Matthew returns home late from the lab to find Ye-jin sleeping awkwardly on the sofa. As he gently approaches to adjust her pillow and tuck her in, Ye-jin suddenly opens her eyes.
"You're late," she whispers softly.
Before Matthew can explain his delay, Ye-jin pulls him down and tenderly kisses him, murmuring, "I missed you." She wraps her arms around him in a warm, loving embrace as the episode ends on an incredibly romantic note.
Sold Out On You
(2026) — Episode 7
Synopsis
Episode 7 of Sold Out On You is filled with emotional breakthroughs, sports-day jealousy, and a flurry of confessions. As the village gears up for its annual festival, the unspoken tension between Han Ye-jin and Matthew reaches a boiling point, culminating in a raw, honest conversation where all cards are finally laid on the table
Picking up immediately after the romantic kiss from Episode 6, Matthew carries a sleeping Ye-jin to her room, carefully laying her down on the bed. Overwhelmed by his feelings, he stares at her for a long time, trying to keep his composure. On his way out, he clumsily bumps into the doorframe but closes the door quietly. The next morning, Matthew is visibly exhausted, having stayed awake all night.
To hide his racing heart, Matthew keeps a comical distance from Ye-jin. During their morning jog and warm-up exercises, every time she touches or gets close to him, his mind flashes back to the kiss, forcing him to nervously run away.
Later, Jin-li (So-mly's older sister) drops by and finds them acting extremely awkward. She joins them for breakfast. Jin-li notices how fast Ye-jin eats when Matthew tells her to slow down. After leaving, Jin-li has a brief flashback of a painful past moment when she stood outside Matthew's locked door, crying and begging him to come out. In the present, she looks back at his house with a lingering sadness.
In Seoul, Eric refuses to fly back to France despite his sister Michelle's fury. Instead, he meets with HIT Network's Director Hyeon-gi. He presents Etoile’s new premium product—an eye cream—but delivers a strict condition: they must re-hire Han Ye-jin as the host, or Etoile will pull all partnerships with HIT forever.
Back in the village, preparations are underway for the local sports festival. Jin-li corners Ye-jin and warns her about Matthew: "I don't know what's going on between you two, but he is a deeply responsible person. Don't depend on him too much." Meanwhile, a quiet romantic subplot progresses at the Moon Cafe. Business partner Moon drops by to buy coffee from Era. Kwang-mo, who has had a crush on Era since childhood, watches them jealously. However, when Sung-mi winks at Kwang-mo to cheer him on during a festival strength challenge, his heart beats erratically—not for Era, but for Sung-mi. Realizing his feelings have shifted, Kwang-mo happily accepts Sung-mi's request to stay in touch.
At the village festival, the characters engage in a series of highly competitive games:
The Charades Game: Partners must guess written phrases using sign language and gestures. When it is Ye-jin and Matthew's turn, the phrases repeatedly mention "lips." Ye-jin frantically points to her lips to prompt him. Flustered and completely distracted by memories of their kiss, Matthew blurs out: "I like your lips!" to the shock of the crowd, failing the game.
The Relay Race: Prior to the race, Eric arrives at the festival to meet Ye-jin and sweet-talks her, even tying her shoelaces. A jealous Matthew watches them closely. During the actual race, Matthew is supposed to pass the baton to Ye-jin. Instead, noticing she has sprained her ankle, he deliberately runs past her to cross the finish line himself. Though they technically "lose" the race due to the illegal pass, Matthew did it solely to protect her from injuring herself further.
In the evening, the emotional walls finally crumble:
Sung-mi's Comfort: Sung-mi hand-delivers Ye-jin's anxiety medication but tells her she doesn't need them anymore: "You are cured. You've finally become a real person."
Eric's Offer: Eric sits with Ye-jin on a swing set, apologizing for getting her fired and begging her to return to Seoul with him so he can help her. Ye-jin politely declines, expressing that she is genuinely happy in the village.
Jin-li's Farewell: Jin-li pulls Matthew aside to confess her long-held romantic feelings for him. Realizing his heart lies elsewhere, she gracefully accepts his apology but advises him: "I saw how you looked at Ye-jin today. You like her. Tell her as soon as possible, or you will end up full of regrets like me."
The Confrontation: Meanwhile, Eric's sister Michelle arrives in Korea, setting up a major corporate clash for the next episode.
Back at Matthew's house, he treats Ye-jin's sprained ankle. Frustrated by the mixed signals, Ye-jin demands a "fact-check" and corners him with a barrage of questions:
"Why did you bypass me in the relay race? Why did you baby-proof the entire house for me? Why did you make a daily schedule for me and tell me to stay here? Why are you so incredibly good to me? Is it that hard to answer?"
Matthew looks at her intensely and counters:
"What about you? Why did you kiss me? Is that so hard to answer?"
Ye-jin breaks down and explains the truth: on the night of the kiss, she had been waiting up for him anxiously. She had pretended to be asleep because she was nervous. Because he was always so kind, protective, and constantly doing beautiful things for her, she kissed him out of overwhelming affection. She admits she only pretended nothing happened because he had acted so distant and ran away from her during their morning jog. She confesses that her heart has been beating uncontrollably around him.
Matthew steps closer, his gaze softening completely. He looks at her and says:
"I did all of that... because of you. You are the reason."
Silencing any remaining doubts, Matthew pulls Ye-jin in for a deep, passionate, and beautifully mutual kiss, bringing the episode to an incredibly satisfying close.
Sold Out On You
(2026) — Episode 8
Synopsis
The episode opens with Matthew and Ye-jin growing increasingly comfortable with each other. Feeling safe in Matthew's home, Ye-jin admits she might still struggle to sleep. To soothe her, Matthew reads her poetry under the covers, leading to them falling asleep side-by-side.
The next morning, Ye-jin insists on accompanying Matthew to his mushroom greenhouse to help him work. When he worries about her sprained ankle and tells her to rest, she challenges him to a guessing game. If he loses, he has to let her come. Matthew confidently accepts but loses. On the way, Ye-jin boldly holds his hand, ignoring his flustered, shy warnings about doing so in public. At the greenhouse, the local villagers playfully tease them about how close they look, throwing them both into a fit of blushing.
Later, while helping him clean mushrooms, Ye-jin gets flustered staring at his lips, makes up an excuse about being thirsty, and runs off. In the fields, she runs into So-mly, who is loudly practicing a speech to run for class president. Ye-jin uses her professional hosting expertise to coach So-mly on how to smile, project her voice, and exude confidence. Thanks to Ye-jin’s mentorship, So-mly wins the election!
Back at the greenhouse, Matthew asks Ye-jin if she wants to try cleaning the mushrooms herself. As she excitedly learns, she locks eyes with Matthew. The air grows thick with romance, and the two share a tender, passionate kiss just as the automatic overhead water sprinklers turn on, drenching them. Neither of them cares, completely lost in the moment.
That evening, the mood shifts as Ye-jin and Matthew discuss their pasts. Ye-jin reveals to Matthew how her severe sleepwalking and trauma started. Five years ago, her senior colleague Yun-ji fell ill and begged Ye-jin to fill in to launch a new cosmetic called "Good Morning Cream." Excited to work alongside her idolized mother, Myung-wa, Ye-jin agreed.
However, the cream was highly toxic, causing severe skin allergies and scarring in children. Facing public outrage, Myung-wa publicly retired and blamed Ye-jin, accusing her of taking bribes from the manufacturing lab to intentionally ruin her career. Ye-jin, devastated by her mother's abandonment and the public hatred, developed severe trauma and insomnia.
Unbeknownst to Ye-jin, Matthew's lab was the one that formulated the "Good Morning Cream." He and his colleagues were devastated when the product caused such harm, though they too were victims of a massive manufacturing cover-up.
The tragedy of the past strikes again in the present. To celebrate her presidential win, So-mly’s friends treat her to burgers and fries. Because So-mly has a severe gluten allergy, she breaks out in horrific, bloody hives all over her face and body.
A panicked Jin-li rushes So-mly to the hospital, where she angrily lectures her sister about her eating habits. Blaming Ye-jin’s presence in the village for distracting her family, Jin-li bitterly warns Ye-jin to stay away from them.
Overwhelmed by guilt, Ye-jin weeps, believing she is cursed to ruin the lives of everyone around her: "First my mother, and now So-mly. Why do I ruin everything when I try to move forward?"
Meanwhile, Moon and Matthew receive the final laboratory safety results for the organic perfume: the bacterial counts have dropped to completely safe levels.
Eric uses this data to make a live media announcement. He vindicates Ye-jin, proving she was right to halt the broadcast initially out of safety concerns, and declares that Etoile's launch will only happen if Han Ye-jin returns as the host. With the public now hailing Ye-jin as a hero, HIT Network’s Director Hyeon-gi desperately begs Ye-jin to return. Ye-jin, still emotionally wounded, asks for time to think.
While tidying Matthew's house, Ye-jin discovers a drawer containing Matthew's old lab files. Inside, she finds a group photo of his research team under the company name that manufactured the disastrous "Good Morning Cream." The pieces of the puzzle fall into place: Matthew is the chemist who created the cream that destroyed her life.
That night, Matthew gathers his courage to tell her the truth, urging her to go back to HIT Network and reclaim her career. He explains that she wasn't responsible for the cream's failure.
Ye-jin quietly pulls out the group photo. "I already know," she whispers.
Matthew, believing himself to be the source of her ultimate misery, tries to push her away to protect her: "Now you know. You should leave."
Ye-jin desperately begs him not to end their relationship this way, asking why he brought her here in the first place. Matthew, masking his immense pain with coldness, lies to her face to force her to leave:
"I only brought you here out of guilt. I knew you were a victim because of me. But keeping you here has been a mistake. Whenever I am around you now, I feel suffocated."
The episode ends on a devastating note, leaving both of them shattered in the ruins of their short-lived happiness.
